Festival Theme: Hexes & Hijinks
A Discord book festival for readers who like their stories filled with magic, mischief, monsters, mayhem, and characters making deeply questionable decisions.
Join us October 23–27, 2026 (EST) for five days of author takeovers, reader games, live readings, book trailers, exclusive content, business features, giveaways, and enough new books to completely destroy your carefully organised TBR.
Authors can host half-hour live sessions and submit evergreen promotional slides that remain visible throughout the festival, allowing readers to discover their books across the entire event.
The October Festival will be managed primarily by Skyee and Anna, with support from Affiliates Elizabeth and Meghan, and our Mod Team, Michelle, Stormy, and Beckie.
A New Festival Structure
Following changes introduced during our previous festival, our author dropout rate decreased from approximately 40% to just 8%.
For October, we are continuing to develop a festival structure that keeps participation accessible while also helping support the costs of maintaining the Fables & Filth website, server promotions, advertisements, community giveaways, and festival resources.
Author Participation
All authors may apply to participate in the October Festival for free and receive up to five promotional slides.
The free slides will use specific Fables & Filth templates and must follow the provided submission requirements.
Authors may purchase additional slides for $1 per slide, up to a maximum of 15 slides total.
Authors selecting 10 slides or more will automatically receive unrestricted slide design. They will not be required to use the standard festival templates, but all general design and content guidelines will still apply.
Permanent Sponsor authors who have maintained their service for a minimum of three months will automatically receive:

Business Participation
Business owners from all industries are welcome to apply for the festival.
Businesses may purchase promotional slides for $1 per slide, with a maximum of five slides per business.
Whether you offer bookish products, creative services, handmade goods, professional support, or something completely different, you are welcome to introduce your business to the Fables & Filth community.
Reader Fan Service
Readers can also participate through our new Fan Service feature.
Any reader may apply to submit a promotional slide celebrating an author of their choice.
Your first Fan Service slide is free when promoting an author who is currently a member of the Fables & Filth server.
Promoting an author outside the server costs $1 per slide. Readers may promote additional authors for $1 each, up to a maximum of five authors total.
If an author joins the server to qualify for a free Fan Service slide but leaves before or during the festival, the reader will be invoiced for the $1 slide fee.
All payments collected through Reader Fan Service slides will be donated directly to charity in full.
House members who use their Fan Service slide to promote an author from their own House will also receive five House Points for their team.
Festival Opportunities
Your Takeover: Host a 30-minute author session featuring a chat, game, reading, Q&A, workshop, or themed activity. Giveaways are welcome but not required.
Your Promotion: Festival slides remain visible throughout the event, allowing readers to continue discovering your books, services, and content even when you are not online.
Your Community: Connect with readers, grow your newsletter, introduce new releases, promote your backlist, meet fellow authors, and become part of a supportive book-loving community.
Accepted participants will receive a welcome email, access to a private Discord planning area, festival templates where applicable, submission instructions, and support from the Fables & Filth team.
